Total: to develop electric aircraft refueller transporter

(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced that it is working with Gaussin to develop the world's first 100%-electric ART (Aircraft Refueller Transporter), a refuelling truck project that will be supported by Saft, its subsidiary specialised in electric batteries.


The energy group specifies that a prototype, which is intended for the Airbus industrial site in Toulouse, will be capable of towing two tanks of 30 tonnes of fuel each. It is due to be delivered at the end of 2020.

This first firm order enables Total to provide a solution tailored to the refuelling business. It also paves the way for the joint development of a fleet of innovative vehicles specifically dedicated to aviation.
