Air Liquide: signs contract with Covestro

(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide and Covestro, the world leader in the manufacture of high-tech polymer materials, recently signed a new long-term contract to supply hydrogen to the Covestro plant, which is located in the port of Antwerp (Belgium), we learned after trading on Tuesday.


Air Liquide will invest 80 million euros in the construction of a "new generation" hydrogen production unit (SMR-XT). This cutting-edge plant, which is set to be commissioned in 2020, will have new Air Liquide proprietary technology that improves the efficiency and overall environmental impact of the production process.

The hydrogen produced will also help Air Liquide supply clients of this industrial basin in Europe. Under this new long-term contract, one of the basic chemicals of polyurethanes, found in many applications in the construction, automotive and household appliance sectors, will be used in the production of aniline.
