Atos: chosen for MareNostrum5 supercomputer

(CercleFinance.com) - Atos, which is leading a consortium, has announced that it has been chosen to deliver the pre-exascale system to be hosted by the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre in Spain, under a contract with the EuroHPC JU initiative.


The new supercomputer, called 'MareNostrum5', will be one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world and will pave the way for so-called 'exascale' capabilities, the next era of supercomputing, it said.

With a power of up to 314 petaflops, or at least 314 million billion calculations per second, MareNostrum5 is designed to boost European medical research through various projects.
