Kone: wins elevator order for Kenya skyscraper

(CercleFinance.com) - Finnish lift maker Kone has won an order to provide elevators for a 185-metre skyscraper in Nairobi, Kenya, which will become one of the tallest buildings in East Africa.


Kone will equip the office tower with 35 high-rise elevators travelling at speeds of 6 metres per second, 14 machine-room-less elevators, and a control system.

When completed in 2020, the office tower will serve as the hub for the African operations of AVIC International, the first Chinese company to open headquarters in Kenya.

In addition to offices, the complex will include a commercial podium, four residential towers, and a 35-story Marriott hotel.
