Nokia: achieves one-terabit milestone with partner Elisa

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia said on Wednesday that it has achieved a major capacity milestone with its Finnish partner Elisa, deploying the world's first 1T (terabit) network in a live commercial trial.


Elisa upgraded some of its Nokia routing systems with 1T interfaces powered by new chipsets, resulting in a 10x boost in capacity, the telecom gear maker said in a statement.

Terabit links simplify operational complexity and overheads by avoiding the need to distribute flows on high capacity routes over multiple lower rate interfaces, Nokia added.

Nokia also announced on Wednesday that Ooredoo Algeria has deployed its cloud-native software to strengthen its network performance and prepare for the launch of new services, such as industrial automation and the Internet of Things (IoT).
