Nokia: chosen by India's Airtel to deploy VoLTE network

(CercleFinance.com) - Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel has chosen Nokia to deploy a large cloud-based voice over LTE (VoLTE) network, the Finnish company said on Monday.


The solution - which has been deployed to cover all 22 telecom service areas in India - enables Airtel to provide mobile customers with faster and more cost-efficient call connectivity, Nokia said.

It enables Airtel to free up spectrum by ramping down its 3G network, allowing the operator to use the freed up spectrum to deploy 4G/LTE services with better speed and capacity, the telecom gear maker said.
