Nokia: joins initiative to limit global warming to 1.5°C

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia is joining an initiative to accelerate its commitments and to cut emissions targets, so as to do its share to limit global warming to a maximum 1.
5°C, the Finnish telecom gear maker said on Monday.

With 86 other companies - including Swiss food giant Nestlé and Swedish furniture chain Ikea - Nokia has committed to set climate targets across its operations to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

Nokia said it has already started improving its own operations through digitisation, and that it is looking closely at ways to reduce both energy bills and carbon emissions for customers.

One of its latest chipsets can reduce the power consumption of base stations by up to 64%, while simultaneous improving performance, it said.

Another liquid cooling system can reduce a base station's CO2 emissions by up to 80%, Nokia added.
