Nokia: optical networking trial conducted in Germany
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has been working with German service provider M-net on a "super coherent" chipset that maximises the capacity and performance of optical networks, the Finnish company said on Thursday.
A field trial reaching 500 gigabits per second has been conducted over a regional network in the German state of Bavaria as M-net prepares for the commercial roll-out of a state-of-the-art fiber-optic network, Nokia said.
This technology is called "Nokia Photonic Service Engine 3" (PSE 3) and has been developed at Nokia's R&D facility in Nuremberg.
