Uniper: stock dives as North Stream 1 closes

(CercleFinance.com) - Uniper shares are down almost 10% in Frankfurt today, taking the full brunt of the consequences of the decision taken by the Russian gas giant Gazprom, at the end of last week, to close its North Stream 1 gas pipeline for an indefinite period.


For the record, the German group has already suffered a net loss of more than 12 billion euros in H1, due to the reduction in Russian gas deliveries, which has forced it to buy gas on the spot market at much higher prices.

Uniper, the energy company spun off from E.ON, has been particularly badly hit by the energy crisis stemming from the Russia-Ukraine conflict: in just over six months, its share price fell from around 39 euros to less than 6 euros on Friday evening.
