Bayer: picks former Sanofi executive to lead pharmaceuticals
(CercleFinance.com) - The head of Sanofi's diabetes and cardiovascular businesses has been appointed as the head of Bayer's pharmaceuticals division on Thursday, the German company said in a statement.
Its supervisory board has named Stefan Oelrich, 50, on its board of management, succeeding Dieter Weinand who is leaving the company for family reasons, as of 1 November.
Having been heavily involved in establishing Sanofi's global diabetes and cardiovascular business unit, Oelrich became head of this business in Europe.
Prior to that, he had a long career in Bayer's pharmaceuticals business, the company said.
