Bayer: Monsanto acquisition now complete

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Bayer has successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto, paving the way for an integration process which is expected to begin in approximately two months' time.


Now that the German chemical giant has obtained the conditional approval from the United States Department of Justice, the integration of Monsanto can take place as soon as the divestments to BASF have been completed.

Liam Condon, member of Bayer's management team, will lead the combined crop science division when the integration begins. Until that time, Monsanto will operate independently from Bayer.

Nevertheless, shares in Monsanto will no longer be traded on the New York Stock Exchange, with Bayer now the sole owner of Monsanto.
