BASF: signs deal to buy solar energy in US

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF's US unit has set up a deal to purchase solar energy from France's EDF, confirming the interest of industrial companies for green energy.


EDF Renewables North America announced late on Monday that its "Space City Solar" project in Texas has secured a first tranche of 55 megawatts to be supplied to the German chemicals maker through a so-called "power purchase agreement."

The project, which is located in Wharton County, Texas, is expected to commence construction in summer 2021 and begin delivery of clean electricity in summer 2022. It total capacity is expected to reach 345 megawatts.

BASF has more than 20,000 employees in North America, where it made sales of nearly 20 billion dollars in 2018.
