Lufthansa: Q1 loss reaches E584m

(CercleFinance.com) - The airline more than doubled its revenue to 5.
4 billion euros in Q1 2022 (from 2.6 billion euros in Q1 2021).

Meanwhile, adjusted EBIT was -591 million euros, therefore improving significantly y-o-y, despite the effects of the pandemic (previous year: -1.0 billion euros). Its adjusted EBIT margin improved accordingly to -11.0 % (vs. -40.9 % the previous year).

At the bottom line it posted a loss of 584 million euros. This also represented an improvement on the same quarter last year (-1.0 billion euros).

The number of passengers in the first quarter more than quadrupled compared to the same period last year. Between January and March, Lufthansa Group airlines welcomed 13 million passengers on board (compared to just 3 million last year).

For FY 2022, the Lufthansa Group expects an average annual passenger capacity of around 75%. In summer, about 95% of the pre-crisis capacity will be offered on European short-haul routes and about 85% on transatlantic routes.
