Volkswagen: could sell its Lamborghini brand

(CercleFinance.com) - German car giant Volkswagen could sell or float Lamborghini, according to Bloomberg.

Herbert Diess, Volkswagen's chairman would like to focus the group's business on its three main brands - Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche, Bloomberg says.

The group's management has already begun the process of creating a separate legal entity for Lamborghini, according to Aurel BGC analysts. However, management has said that it has no plans to sell or list its Lamborghini brand.

There are, however, points that suggest a that the 12-branded group could refocus is business, as it fears that it is spreading its presence excessively, at a time when the sector is facing many challenges, Aurel BGC says.

The valuation of Lamborghini could exceed 10 billion dollars, which is a lot less than Ferrari, although significantly more than Aston Martin, the broker adds.
