Siemens: ICE 3neo train up and running in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens announces that Deutsche Bahn (DB) - the German state-owned railway company - has put its latest generation of trains, the so-called "ICE", into service almost a week ahead of schedule, as the partners DB and manufacturer Siemens Mobility have succeeded in making the train operational in record time.

As a result, the new ICE 3neo is now making its maiden voyage with passengers between Frankfurt/Main and Cologne.

Despite pandemic-related restrictions and disrupted supply chains worldwide, the maiden passenger journey is taking place just two and a half years after the train was ordered in July 2020, Siemens said.

By 2029, DB will have invested ten billion euros in new trains, including 73 ICE 3neo trains.
