Siemens: replaces AEP operating software

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens will replace American Electc Power's (AEP) existing protection simulation operating software with PSS CAPE software.


Ohio-based AEP is the largest transmission system operator in the US. It serves 5.5 million customers in 11 states and maintains the nation's largest transmission network with over 40,000 miles of transmission lines.

With this software, AEP will be able to run more complex protection simulations and optimise day-to-day protection tasks, all with an accurate and up-to-date model.

This will accelerate the adoption of changes to the energy grid, including increased renewable energy resources, and facilitate the ability to respond quickly to scenarios that threaten grid stability.
