Daimler: Mercedes to begin talks to sell French plant

(CercleFinance.com) - Mercedes-Benz plans to start talks to sell its car assembly plant in Hambach, France, as part of its measures to improve its cost structure, the luxury brand of Daimler confirmed on Monday.


The German carmaker said valuation effects of fixed assets will lead to a negative one-off impact from restructuring measures in the mid triple-digit million euro range in the second quarter at Mercedes-Benz.

The Hambach factory - which was inaugurated in 1997 - has produced smart electric vehicles for the smart brand. Around 1,600 employees are currently working at the site.
