Daimler: new CEO for Mercedes-Benz in the US

(CercleFinance.com) - Mercedes-Benz Cars, the luxury unit of German auto giant Daimler, said on Monday that it had appointed new managers in the US, China, and Russia.


Nicholas Speeks, previously head of sales in China, will now be responsible for sales of Mercedes-Benz Cars in the NAFTA region (USA, Canada, Mexico), becoming CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, the carmaker said.

He will replace Dietmar Exler, who had been the CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA since 2016 and is leaving, on his own request.

The move comes as sales of Mercedes-Benz fell by over 10% in the US over the first four months of the year.

Simultaneously, Jan Madeja - who has been the head of Mercedes-Benz sales in Russia - will take over as head of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service, the group's division in China, on 1 September.

He will be succeeded by Holger Suffel, who started working at the former Daimler-Benz in 1981 and who has held various management positions within product marketing.
