Puma: kicks off 2019 with record quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - The first quarter of 2019 was the best quarter Puma has ever seen, the German sportswear maker said on Friday.


Revenues of 1.32 billion euros for the first three months of the year (+15% currency adjusted) are the highest the company has ever reported, it said.

Ebit of 143 million euros, up 27% year-on-year, was also the highest in absolute terms that Puma has ever achieved, the group said.

The sportswear giant - which recently signed deals with the football clubs Manchester City and Valencia - also expressed a positive tone for the rest of the year.

"Even if we have nine more months to go and despite a lot of uncertainty in the market, we feel comfortable that we will achieve our guidance for the full year," CEO Bjorn Gulden said.

Puma shares, which have rallied 25% so far this year, were up 1% at 533 euros this morning.
