Deutsche Börse: a tricky patch in Q3

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday evening Deutsche Börse reported a 4% decline in Q3 operating profit, due to a decline in sales and a slight rise in costs.

The German stockmarket operator posted Ebitda of 399.5 million euros over the quarter, compared with 415.7 million euros a year earlier, albeit slightly above the consensus.

In a statement, Deutsche Börse said it recorded a 4% decline in net sales to 707.5 million euros, in a market context that it deemed "difficult".

In particular, the group cites lower activity on the derivatives markets, notably on the Eurex and EEX sub-funds, as well as a fall in volatility between the second and third quarters of the year.

Despite this bout of weakness over the quarter, the operator says that it is maintaining its FY forecasts, still expecting adjusted net profit of around 1.2 billion euros.

Its share price fell following these announcements on Thursday, down over 0.5% at noon in Frankfurt.
