BMW: optimistic about 2021; shares rise

(CercleFinance.com) - German premium carmaker BMW Group said on Friday that it is optimistic about the current year, planning to resume profitable growth thanks to strong demand and a fresh product line-up.


The Munich-based auto giant - which posted an all-time sales high for its fourth quarter - said it expects to increase sales of electrified vehicles by over 50% in 2021.

"This underlines the importance of electromobility as a major growth driver for our company,"said sales chief Pieter Nota.

With the start of production of the BMW iX and the BMW i4 models, the company aims to double sales of fully-electric vehicles this year.

In addition, BMW is realigning its sales and marketing division in close collaboration with its retail partners, making a triple-digit million investment in digitalisation through to 2025, to improve the customer experience.

The share was up about 0.5% in Frankfurt after these announcements.
