Novartis: FDA approves copy of oncology drug

(CercleFinance.com) - The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Novartis' copy of a long-acting oncology supportive drug that was developed by US biotech firm Amgen.


Novartis' Sandoz said Ziextenzo is indicated to decrease the incidence of febrile neutropenia, one of the most serious side effects of chemotherapy.

The Sandoz biosimilar has been approved and marketed in Europe as Ziextenzo since 2018.

Sandoz now intends to launch Ziextenzo in the US "as soon as possible this year."
