UBS: EU authorises merger with Credit Suisse

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has announced its unconditional approval of the merger between Credit Suisse (cp: 0.
8 CHF, -1.1%) and UBS (cp: 7.5 CHF, -0.8%).

It concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns in the European Economic Area.

UBS and Credit Suisse are both multinational investment banks and global financial services companies.

Based on its market investigation, the Commission concluded that the concentration would not significantly impede competition in the markets where the companies' activities overlap within the EEA.
