Swiss Re: discussions end with Softbank

(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss Re announced this morning that - by mutual agreement - it had terminated talks with Softbank concerning the Japanese holding company taking a minority stake in its capital.


As a reminder, both groups entered into preliminary discussions in February regarding Softbank taking a stake in Swiss Re's capital - this should not exceed 10% of its capital.

This should not come as much of a surprise for the markets, considering that the press had already mentioned the blocking position that the two companies had reached as part of their discussions, an analyst at Aurel BGC said this morning.
