Dufry: H1 results beat expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - Dufry has reported better-than-expected H1 results on Tuesday, driven by a stronger-than-expected recovery in its business due to the easing of travel restrictions.

The world's leading duty free and airport retailer posted EBIT of 159.8 million Swiss francs in its core business in H1, against a loss of 103.9 million Swiss francs a year ago.

On an IFRS basis (the accounting standard it has favoured until now) operating profit came in at 152.4 million Swiss francs, streets ahead of the consensus of 67 million Swiss francs.

At the group level, business in June represented 85.5% of the same period in 2019, a rate that reached almost 90% for July (expressed at constant exchange rates).

Naturally investors like this, with the share currently up over 3.5% in Zurich.
