ABB: signs cloud deal with Google

's cloud unit has entered into a deal with Swiss engineering group ABB as the Internet giant continues to compete with Amazon and Microsoft on this strategic market.

As part of the agreement, Google Cloud will expand ABB's cloud footprint, as the industrial group is seeking to increase the resilience of its infrastructure.

Under the contract, Google will collaborate with ABB's teams, rolling out a migration plan that is in line with the Swiss group's new operating model.

The deal marks ABB's increased focus on cloud adoption, while optimizing the capacity of its data centers, Google said.

The tech giant said that it will also deploy its data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) systems to simplify and improve automation and consolidation at ABB's sites.
