ABB: starts construction at China robotics factory

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB has started to build its new robotics manufacturing and research facility in China, representing an investment of 150 million dollars.


The new 67,000 m2 factory near Shanghai - where robots make robots - will deploy the latest manufacturing processes, including machine learning, digital and collaborative solutions, the Swiss engineering group said.

The plant will serve its customer base in Asia, including carmakers, as well as electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals companies.

The facility is expected to open during 2021.

ABB expects global robot sales to jump from 80 billion dollars today to 130 billion dollars in 2025.
