ABB: second-quarter net profit soars by 30%

(CercleFinance.com) - Second-quarter net profit at Swiss engineering group ABB rose by 30% to 681 million dollars, driven by strong demand from all regions.


Total orders rose by 8% to 9.5 billion dollars, the group said on Thursday, boosted by its digital portfolio ABB Ability solutions.

"Macroeconomic signs are trending positively in Europe and the United States, with growth expected to continue in China”, the company said in a statement.

Revenues rose by 5 per cent to 8.9 billion dollars.

The group, which sells equipment to utilities, industry and transport & infrastructure companies, said the overall global market is growing, while noting "rising geopolitical uncertainties".

The shares were up 4.8% at 23 Swiss francs in Zurich after the report.
