Roche: new test kits for Omicrom variant
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche and TIB Molbiol, a newly acquired subsidiary within the Roche Diagnostics Division, announce that they have developed three additional test kits to differentiate between unique mutations present in the Omicron variant of the coronavirus compared to other variants of SARS-CoV-2.
The tests are intended for use on Roche's LightCycler and cobas z 480 analysers.
Using a technology called qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction), they can help researchers improve variant detection and viral research, and are one of the first to address the number of unique mutations in the Omicron variant, Roche says.
