Roche: FDA approves treatment for scleroderma

(CercleFinance.com) - Roche announced on Friday that the US Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of Actemra/RoActemra in the treatment of systemic scleroderma, a rare disease of the tissues surrounding organs.


The Swiss biopharmaceutical group says that this is the sixth indication obtained in the United States since 2010 for this biological agent against rheumatoid arthritis, administered in intravenous and subcutaneous formulations.

Above all, it is the first approved treatment for systemic scleroderma, a serious chronic disease that is characterised by blood vessel abnormalities, degenerative changes and scar tissue formation in the skin, joints and organs, the laboratory highlighted.
