Roche: expands program against deadly diseases

(CercleFinance.com) - Roche has decided to expand its program for increased access to HIV diagnostics to tests for hepatitis, tuberculosis, and human papillomavirus (HPV), the Swiss drugmaker said on Monday.

"With effective treatment options for these infectious agents and improved patients access to diagnostics, early detection can help save lives and ease suffering," said Michael Heuer, CEO Roche Diagnostics.

The move means that Roche will provide health systems of low- and middle-income countries with "transparent and consistent pricing" to the tests.

In 2014, Roche launched its global access program for increased access to HIV diagnostics, partnering with national governments, local healthcare facilities, communities and international agencies.

The program includes its CE-marked plasma sample collection device cobas.
