Roche: FDA approves drug for breast cancer after surgery

(CercleFinance.com) - US health regulators approved an antibody-drug made by Swiss drugmaker Roche for some patients with early breast cancer with residual disease after surgery.


The US Food and Drug Administration said on Monday that it has approved Kadcyla for adjuvant treatment of people with HER2-positive early breast cancer who have residual invasive disease after Herceptin-based treatment.

The approval was based on a phase III study of 743 women showing that Kadcyla reduced the risk of invasive breast cancer recurrence or death by 50% compared to Herceptin, another Roche drug.
