Barry Callebaut: volume growth accelerates in third quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - Barry Callebaut, the world's largest chocolate maker, is confident that it will deliver its current mid-term guidance and that it will continue to outperform the chocolate market.


As anticipated, the Swiss provider of cocoa and chocolate products accelerated its volume growth in the third quarter, with all regions contributing to the momentum, the company said on Thursday.

The chocolate producer said its sales volumes rose to 1.6 million tonnes in the first nine months of its fiscal year 2018/2019, up 5 percent, above the global chocolate confectionery market.

Sales revenue in the September-May period reached 5.5 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 8.2% in local currencies (+5.7% in Swiss francs).

Still, the increase in sales revenue was impacted by higher raw material prices, the group said.

The shares of Barry Callebaut were up 0.9% at 1998 Swiss francs in Zurich after the report.
