bpost: shares jump after strong fourth-quarter results

(CercleFinance.com) - bpost shares jumped on Wednesday after the Belgian postal company reported 2018 results that are in line with its expectations, driven by acquisitions, strong domestic and international parcels growth and domestic mail revenues that are nearly stable.


The group said guidance was achieved thanks to a back-end loaded EBITDA generation during a seasonally strong fourth quarter.

Fourth-quarter EBITDA jumped to 206.4 million euros, on total operating income that was up 18.5% at 1.13 billion euros, it said.

Net profit came in at 262.3 million euros for the full year, giving a dividend per share equal to last year, as guided, at 1.31 euro.

For 2019, bpost forecasts normalised EBIT of over 300 million euros, with a dividend of at least 85% of net profit, it added.

All these announcements had a positive impact on the shares, which jumped over 8% to almost 9 euros on Euronext Brussels this morning.
