Gimv: invests in German energy storage firm

(CercleFinance.com) - Belgian investment company Gimv has taken a majority stake in Germany's Smart Battery Solutions (SBS), a maker of lithium-ion battery systems, the group said in a statement on Tuesday.


SBS, headquartered in Kleinostheim near Frankfurt, provides externally produced batteries, intelligent energy storage systems and charging technologies.

It has also developed a number of proprietary battery management systems that control the operation and safe usage of battery systems.

Founded in 2010 by four industry experts, the firm currently employs 50 people.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
