Walmart: 'high-tech' warehouse in South Carolina
(CercleFinance.com) - Walmart announced on Tuesday that it had chosen Spartanburg County, South Carolina, to set up a new technology-intensive logistics center.
The US retail giant explains that the site will use processes such as automation, robots and machine learning to support the logistics related to its fresh products, such as fruits and vegetables, dairy products, flowers and frozen foods.
This "high-tech" center aims to double the capacities compared to a traditional warehouse.
The 67,000 m2 site - which is expected to create over 400 jobs in the county - will not be operational for a while (2024), however.
The share is up over 2% in pre-market trading on Tuesday.
