Walmart: plan to close Sam's Club stores
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday night Walmart announced the closure of 63 Sam's Club stores in the United States over the coming weeks, including twelve that will be converted into distribution centers for its online business.
This major downsizing, which was decided on after a performance review, will reduce the number of Sam'sClub stores to 597. Currently Walmart and Sam's Club operate over 5,400 stores throughout the US.
The world's largest retailer will record a charge of approximately 14 cents per share for these restructuring measures, mostly in its Q4 accounts.
