Verizon: wireless customer growth boosts quarterly profit

(CercleFinance.com) - Verizon said that wireless customer growth improved in the third quarter, which boosted its results and sent its shares up in pre-market trading on Friday.

The US carrier said it has won 193,000 retail postpaid net adds in the past quarter, including 239,000 phone net adds, more than double the 112,000 phone net adds in the third quarter 2018.

Churn, or the rate of customer defections, was just 1.05% over the quarter.

Verizon reported EPS of 1.25 dollar, compared with 1.19 dollar in the third quarter of 2018, on total revenue of 22.7 billion dollars, up 1.4% year-on-year.

Its shares - which have gained 8% this year - were up almost 1% in pre-market trading on Friday.
