Verizon: quarterly profit rises

(CercleFinance.com) - Verizon said on Tuesday that its third-quarter profit rose, helped by growth both in wireless and high-speed Internet connections.

For the third-quarter of 2018, the US phone company reported EPS of 1.19 dollar, compared with 89 cents a year earlier.

Total consolidated operating revenues increased by 2.8% to 32.6 billion dollars.

In wireless, Verizon said it added 515,000 retail postpaid net clients over the quarter, including 510,000 postpaid smartphone users.

The provider also added a net of 54,000 Fios Internet connections, its package of video and Internet services, over the quarter.

Verizon expects full-year 2018 consolidated revenue to grow at low-to-mid single-digit percentage rates, with low single-digit percentage growth in adjusted EPS.

Verizon expects to make its 5G commercial product offering in the fourth quarter.
