(CercleFinance.com) - Twitter has acquired Sphere, a London-based start-up that created a messaging application geared towards creating communities of like-minded users.
On its website, the start-up says that it is a big fan of the micro-blogging site and its efforts to improve the safety of its members.
In particular, the company praises Twitter's "Communities" initiative, which helps users join a dedicated place where they can connect with each other and get closer to the conversations that interest them most.
Within these groups, tweets posted can be read by anyone on Twitter, but only other community members can interact and participate in the conversation.
