Starbucks: opens first store in Italy

(CercleFinance.com) - US coffee chain Starbucks opened on Wednesday its first outlet in Italy, the first of the many additional cafés the company plans to open in Milan from late 2018.

However, in the country that is reputed for its coffee, the Seattle based group did not want to copy its approach adopted in other countries.

As such, Starbucks has decided to set up in Italy with its "Roastery" format, of which only two others exist in the world: the Seattle Roastery, which was opened in 2014, and the Roastery in Shanghai, which began operations in 2017.

At the location, classic espresso beverages will be served at a wood-fronted bar downstairs, while upstairs on the mezzanine, customers can discover another place, where "mixologists" create specialty cocktails behind a 10-metre-long marble bar.

With a surface area of 2,300 square metres, the Milan Roastery is found just streets away from the Duomo di Milano and Teatro alla Scala.
