Qualcomm: ITC judge rules against Apple

(CercleFinance.com) - A judge at the US International Trade Commission has ruled that a US patent owned by Qualcomm has been infringed by Apple, Qualcomm said on Wednesday.

ITC administrative law judge MaryJoan McNamara found that Qualcomm's US patent '674 is valid and said she will recommend barring the importation of infringing products into the United States.

"We are pleased that today ITC Judge McNamara found that Apple-designed processors infringe our '674 patent and will be recommending an import ban and cease and desist order to the Commission," Don Rosenberg, Qualcomm's general counsel, said in a statement.

The '674 patent improves power management in processor circuitry to reduce power consumption and improve battery life in mobile devices.

Qualcomm says that Apple has used the patent in the design of chips that are used widely in Apple devices, including the iPhone 7.
