Qualcomm: executive chairman role discontinued
(CercleFinance.com) - Qualcomm said on Friday that Paul Jacobs would no longer serve as executive chairman of the board and that Jeffrey Henderson, an independent director since 2016, would serve as non-executive chairman.
The world's biggest supplier of mobile phone chips said that it has decided to discontinue the role of executive chairman, which was established in 2014 as part of a leadership transition plan.
Qualcomm now thinks that an independent chairman is "more appropriate."
Current chairman Paul Jacobs, who has served since 2009, will remain a board member.
