News Corp: EPS slightly better than expected in Q2

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday evening News Corp published Q2 EPS that is down at 14 cents, compared to 16 cents for the same period a year ago.

Adjusted EPS was 18 cents, one cent above the consensus.

The media group saw its segment EBITDA drop 4% to 355 million dollars, for revenues that are down 6% at 2.48 billion dollars, mainly due to currency fluctuations and an unfavourable comparison basis in book publishing.

The group has also highlighted lower subscription revenues at Foxtel, a drop in print advertising revenue in news and information services, as well as persistent pressure at REA Group, which is related to difficulties in the Australian housing market.
