Moderna: to invest $500m in African facility
(CercleFinance.com) - Moderna today said that it plans to build a state-of-the-art facility in Africa to produce up to 500 million doses of its Covid mRNA vaccine annually.
The company plans to invest up to 500 million dollars in the new facility, which will have filling and packaging capacity in addition to drug manufacturing.
Moderna plans to launch a country and site selection process shortly.
Moderna's pipeline currently consists of around 20 vaccine candidates, ranging from prophylactic vaccines, vaccines targeting respiratory viruses, latent viruses and global public health threats.
