Microsoft: new 40 billion dollar buyback, raises dividend

(CercleFinance.com) - Microsoft's board raised the company's dividend 11% late on Wednesday and approved a new share buyback that has no expiry date.

Its board of directors yesterday declared a quarterly dividend of 0.51 dollar per share, reflecting a 5 cent increase over the previous quarter's dividend.

The dividend will be paid 12 December to shareholders of record on 21 November, the US software giant said.

The board of directors also approved a new share repurchase program, authorizing up to 40 billion dollars in share buybacks.

Microsoft shares rose about 1.2% in pre-market trading after the news. They closed at 138.5 dollars yesterday on the New York Stock Exchange.
