Microsoft: takes over GitHub for 7.5 billion dollars
(CercleFinance.com) - Microsoft said on Monday that it has finalised the acquisition of GitHub, a web platform dedicated to developers, which hosts and manages software in cooperation.
Microsoft announced that it has paid 7.5 billion dollars for the company. "Together, the two companies will empower developers to achieve more at every stage of the development lifecycle, accelerate enterprise use of GitHub, and bring Microsoft's developer tools and services to new audiences," the Redmond based company said in a statement.
GitHub boasts some 27 million users worldwide, who are either independent or GAFA (Google, Amazon, Facebook and Amazon) employees.
