McDonald's: strong results on international growth
(CercleFinance.com) - McDonald's reported strong quarterly results on Friday, posting a 16th consecutive quarter of global comparable sales growth.
Global comparable sales increased 6.5% in the second quarter, primarily driven by the UK, France and Germany, the world's largest fast-food chain said in a statement on Friday.
In the US, same-store sales rose by 5.7% over the quarter.
McDonald's second-quarter profit reached 1.52 billion dollars, or 1.97 dollar per share, up from 1.49 billion dollars, or 1.90 dollar a share, a year earlier.
Excluding items, diluted EPS reached 2.05 dollars, up 3%, in line with the consensus, the group said.
However, consolidated revenues were flat year-on-year, due to the impact of refranchising, it noted.
McDonald's shares are up 2.6% in pre-market trading on Friday.
