Loews Corp: Q3 EPS well below estimates
(CercleFinance.com) - Loews Corp, a conglomerate whose businesses range from energy to insurance and hospitality, has published Q3 net income that has been quartered to 72 million dollars, or 24 cents per share, while the consensus was expecting three times more.
This drop is primarily due to a heavy extraordinary charge at the insurance company CNA Financial, although it also partly stems from smaller contributions from CNA and its subsidiary Diamond Offshore Drilling.
