Eli Lilly: confidence up for the financial year.

(CercleFinance.com) - Eli Lilly reported this Tuesday, before Wall Street opening, a 24-cent increase in its earnings per share (EPS) for the second quarter to 95 cents year-on-year.


Excluding one-offs, the US pharmaceutical giant's EPS came out at 1.11 dollars, representing a 25-cent hike compared to the previous second quarter. The consensus was rather less optimistic at 1.04 dollars.

Sales went from 5.4 billion dollars to 5.82 billion, over and above the 5.59 billion dollars anticipated by analysts.

Eli Lilly's target is an adjusted EPS of between 4.1 and 4.2 dollars for the financial year underway. Its previous target was EPS of between 4.05 and 4.15 dollars.

The revenue forecast is also up, to become an expected 22-22.5 billion dollars, compared to 21.8-22.3 billion previously.
